Sacraments
Baptism
In order for parents to have their child baptized, they must first be "suitably instructed on the meaning of this sacrament and the obligations attaching to it" (Canon Law, no. 851.2). Prior to the Baptism, the parents of the child to be baptized, and the Godparents are highly recommended to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation (if they are a practicing Catholic).

Prior to Baptism, all parents must meet with the pastor and
participate in the Baptism preparation class, if it is your first child. If you have not attended any session about Baptism for your first child's Baptism, you are recommended to meet with the pastor for a session on Baptism.
It is required that, at least one parent must be an active Catholic. Parents are to be registered at St. Sebastian or St. Charles parishes and should provide a letter from where they are registered and have already completed a Baptism preparation class. Vitally important to the reception of the sacrament of Baptism is the committed promise of the parent(s) to continually pass on their faith to their children by word and example. Preeminent among the means for this achievement is the ongoing full participation in the sacramental life of the Catholic Church.
Each child must have at least one Godparent. This sponsor for the child must be a Confirmed and active Catholic of at least 16 years of age. The Godparent plays a primary role in support of the parents and fostering growth of the child's faith. It is encouraged that the Godparents accompany the parents for any preparation activities prior to the Baptism. An individual CANNOT receive the other sacraments of the Church until he/she is baptized.
Reconciliation
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available at St. Sebastian on Saturdays from 4:30-5:15pm and Sundays from 7:30 - 8:10am, and at St. Charles on Thursdays after 5:30pm Mass, and on Sundays after Mass at 10:30am.

Marriage
A couple wishing to marry must contact the priest a minimum of six months prior to the desired wedding date.
According to the guidelines of our Diocese, you should not make absolute plans for a specific wedding date until after meeting with the pastor. You may call the Parish Office at 270-273-3185 to set up an appointment.

The Holy Eucharist can only be received by full members of the Catholic Church. If you are not Catholic, we request that you please refrain from receiving the Eucharist at Mass. You are, however, welcome to come forward with your arms crossed over your chest and receive a blessing.
Anointing of the Sick
The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is celebrated upon request, and at least four times a year at all the weekend Masses.
Please notify the pastor or call the parish office if you know of anyone who might need this sacrament, but may not be able to notify the pastor personally. Please inform the pastor or someone in the parish office if you or any of your family is in the hospital. If you notify us before surgery, we can celebrate this sacrament before you are admitted to the hospital. If your doctor is willing we can also have a blessing for him/her at the time of your anointing.
Confirmation
According to Canon Law, in order for a baptized person to lawfully receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, he "must be suitably instructed, properly disposed and able to renew the baptismal promises" (Can. 889) Furthermore, "Parents and the pastor are to see that the faithful are properly instructed to receive the sacrament". (Can. 890)
